- Why a 3.0 shock? The 3.0 refers to the shocks outside body diameter. Example there are 2.0 and 2.5 shocks as well. The 3.0 is the largest common size shock. This 3.0 shock offer a 2.75″ piston diameter your factory HMMWV/H1 shock is only has a 1.75″ diameter piston. This is a 1″ diameter again. If you don’t know much about shocks this may seem like not a big deal but it is. The larger the diameter the shock the better. Why is larger better? Larger offers more ability to hold more oil and have more surface area. The factory piston circumference is 5.5″ the 3.0 has a circumference of 8.64″ this a 57% gain in surface area. This allows to have more dampen if needed and can handle more cycles without getting overheated compared to the factory shock this upgrade reduces shock fade and increases shock durability.
- This shock offers a unique internal bypass shock which the factory shock doesn’t even offer. This shock is also unique in the fact it does not have the drawbacks of the common twin tube design which you have to run a smaller piston. Internal bypass shocks deliver precisely velocity sensitive and position sensitive damping. The internal bypass shock has light valving at ride height to deliver a smooth comfortable ride while still providing substantial damping force at full compression to prevent bottoming out during hard use. Internal bypass shocks pack a ton of performance in a compact durable package that’s perfect for dual-purpose rigs, daily drivers or competition vehicles.
- Benefits of running remote reservoir: One of first and major benefits is increased fluid capacity and surface area allows for more heat dissipation. Heat dissipation is important to keep the shocks cool from fade and from overheating causing failure in aggressive terrain. This allows for longer lasting durability and performance. This also help keep a solid column of oil for piston in the shock allowing for more constant damping.
- There are a few benefits to running nitrogen charged shocks. The first is reduction in oil foaming or aeration problems by keeping pressurized oil around the piston. This pressurized oil around the piston helps keep a constant dampen to the suspension. Using nitrogen instead of non-pressurized ambient air that is normally in a twin tube also helps reduce heat and helps keep the shock consistent. Keeping the oil under pressure in general reduces ability to foam.
